A little about me… My name is Giovanna Andrade. I have been teaching 6th grade math for 6 years in Houston, Tx. When people ask me what I do for a living, I get the common response, “Ohh that’s cool! What grade?” But as soon as they hear what I teach, their attitude switches. “How do you do it?,” “I could never do it!” “MATH?” “Props to you!” But, honestly, there’s no other grade or subject I would teach! Middle school students are so funny, there’s never a dull moment with them. One second they want to act like young adults, and the next, want to tattle on each other. Every day is a new adventure, with new surprises. As far as math goes, I have always enjoyed it, and noticed growing up how students struggled with it. I loved helping students in my math classes, and loved playing teacher growing up!
AndradeInTheMiddle was created to help teachers like you, incorporate engaging lessons in their classrooms, that will have your students asking if they can do them every day! I know sometimes teachers spend a lot of time looking for resources that students will enjoy, or do not have the time to create them themselves. I’m here to save you some time, and hope that your students love them as much as mine. I love watching how students start the year disliking math and end the year loving it! I believe in order for students to be successful, they need to have fun while they’re practicing skills, and not feel like they’re doing just math!
